About Carlos
My name is Dr Carlos Oliveira, and I’m a clinical neuropsychologist. I graduated from the APA accredited California School of Professional Psychology with a doctorate in clinical psychology. I completed my internship at the APA accredited Sierra Nevada Veterans Affairs Medical Center and a 2-year APA and APPCN accredited post-doctoral residency in clinical neuropsychology at the Battle Creek Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Prior to my doctorate, I received a masters degree in counseling psychology with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy from National University. I also have specialized training in psychological assessment and eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR).
My approach to assessment and treatment involves the integration of brain-behavior relationships and the intersections of psychological functions. I use a therapeutic assessment stance to answer questions you have and use cognitive and psychological measures to assist in the conceptualization, diagnosis, and treatment of areas that may keep you stuck if we decide together we are a good fit.
I believe in the complex interplay of the therapeutic relationship in the brain. Should you choose to work with me as well, I will walk with you in times of darkness and in the light, in the hopes you too will see the incredible effects assessment and treatment have on your brain—and, consequently, on the meaning and quality of your life.
